Environmentally Concerned Organization of Students (ECOS) is dedicated to the student and preservation of the environment. ECOS coordinates a campus recycling program, shares information, sponsors Earth Day, and organizes environmentally-oriented service projects and activities. We work hard to spread knowledge about the environment and ways to positively impact it in the surrounding Grayson County community and work to spread appreciation for nature around us.

ECOS Events
Community Garden Volunteer: We have a very strong connection with the Sherman Community Garden and we frequently meet up on weekends and work to upkeep the garden, planting seasonal foods and learning about different crops and their development process!
On-campus help: We work together with the environmental group THINKING GREEN with on-campus efforts to make our school more eco-friendly. We help spread recycling practices and help with freshmen moving in at the start of the year, making sure all their packing is disposed of properly.
Hiking: When we’re not working on the garden we’re out hiking in different parks around the Grayson area, trying to pick up as much litter as we can find while enjoying nature!
Camping: As a celebration, once a semester we like to take the members who’ve worked hard on all this volunteer work to go camping around the north Texas and Oklahoma region.
Movie Night: Sometimes the weather gets in the way of doing wonderful outside activities so we’ve started hosting environmental movie nights where we watch a movie or documentary that has themes relating to environmental impact and have talks afterward about our thoughts.
